Parent 2 Parent
Parent 2 Parent is a nationwide support group of parents who have children with special needs. They have much success in matching parents who have children with similar needs. The National Office is in Hamilton.

The Albinism Trust of New Zealand
The Albinism Trust are there to help, assist , advise and advocate for you. You have support from fellow albinos.

NZORD – New Zealand Organisation of Rare Disorders
This website has links to many international sites containing information concerning rare disorders. This site is the New Zealand link.

CVI Scotland
CVI Scotland are devoted to helping people understand Cerebral Visual Impairments (known as CVI) and together working towards developing the understanding of this complex condition.

Parents might like to visit the New Zealand Association of Optometrists website. There is very good information available for parents regarding children’s vision.

Information abut the Braille Authority, a trust established to support the use of braille in New Zealand.

The Halberg Trust aims to support all children with a disability if they want to be involved in active leisure or recreation of their choice, alongside their peers in an inclusive environment.

The Variety Club may be able to provide financial assistance for children with special needs. I have found them most supportive and helpful in the past.

This website has very good examples of excellent tactile toys. High educational value, great for parents to learn from.

This website has good information on new Mountbatten training resources. Worth visiting if your child uses braille.


National Association of Parents of Vision Impaired USA
The National Association of Parents of Vision Impaired USA. Very similar to PVI New Zealand only on a larger scale.

The Texas School for the Blind and Vision Impaired is a leading educational facility. Excellent information and links to other places.
